G Harding Flooring use Tuskbond to undertake the installation of a prestigious grade 1 listed building

G HARDING FLOORING were tasked to undertake the installation of the prestigious grade 1 listed, Bahrain Embassy building in Belgravia, London.

The installation comprised of installing new Underlay & Carpet to the main central staircase, along with additional staircases to staff offices. The central staircase & landings were of a concrete structure and the client had chosen a stair-runner incorporating an exposed section either side of the stairs. This 100mm border was also to feature on the landings to run in uniform with the stairs.

To produce a high end finish, the underlay needed to be adhered directly to the subfloor landings and stairs. Tuskbond HD20 was applied to both the underlay and subfloor on the stairs. This enabled our fitting team to accurately cut the underlay to the appropriate sizes in preparation for the carpet. Tuskbond was a great choice offering a high instant grab when fixing the underlay to the curved treads. It needed to be held in place not only for the installation method, but more importantly for the safety of the continued use of the staircase by staff members to allow full access to the building.

The carpet was bound and whipped and needed to be cut oversized by 50mm compared to the underlay to allow a subtle transition to the floor. Tuskbond G500 was the perfect contact solution. Applying this product was simple and offers a quick method of applying the adhesive without the other messy and time consuming alternatives. It needed to provide a strong adhesion to the floor that was able to take the everyday traffic of staff and visitors using the premises, whilst still maintaining its position during cleaning and vacuuming. Applying Tuskbond G500 directly to the underlay and also the stair runner carpet, allowed the fitters to tightly and securely install the carpet around and over the curved stairs turning this into a main feature of the installation.
